The Research Institute of Standards in Islam (RISIS) was established in 1998 by the Muslim Consumer Association of Malaysia.

With a focus on Halal assurance, cutting-edge technology, and a comprehensive, integrated approach, RISIS addresses the longstanding challenges and limitations in the global Halal supply chain. These issues have been exacerbated by fragmented and competing Halal standards and certification bodies over the past three decades. As an authorized body of UNISOF, RISIS is poised to unify and integrate these disparate entities, offering significant benefits to the cross-border Halal trade and industry that has been underserved.
